Chesterton Primary School Broadcast Live On Corinium Radio

Mrs Dearsley’s Year 5  Class from Chesterton Primary School visited Cirencester Bingham Library last week during the Corinium Radio broadcast.  The whole class took part in the TGI Friday programme – the first time this has been attempted on Corinium Radio, and it was an unqualified success!  Whilst their colleagues listened to the radio, small groups took turns in the studio, and had each chosen a local feature to talk about, including the Open Air Pool, Chesterton Play Rangers and St Michael’s Park.

Broadcaster Ann Hart commented:

I was a little nervous about the logistics of getting such a large group in and out of the studio, and also not certain how the children would react to being live on air. needn’t have worried, they had clearly researched their subjects and worked hard on their scripts, and I simply sat back and let them take over.  It was entertaining, informative and exactly what a community radio station is all about.  Many thanks to the children and teachers and also the Bingham Library who so kindly allowed us to relay the broadcast to the children waiting outside.

Anyone interested in sharing their views on the broadcast, or getting involved in any capacity, is invited to attend this year’s AGM. Open to all members of the public, the meeting will take place this year on Thursday 8 July at 6.45pm (for 7.00 start) in the Cirencester Bingham Library.
