Keri spoke to travel writer Simon Heyes, author of the blog SimonsJamJar.com, who used the country as his first step in exploring South America. He told me the reality is very different to the way the country is often portrayed.
Afghanistan is one of the few countries in the world that the UK Foreign Office says you should only travel to if essential. So why would you want to go on holiday there – and is it safe? Keri spoke to Tom Bodkin from travel company Secret Compass. They organise treks and expeditions to some of the most exotic and unusual places on the planet. Tom told me Afghanistan is surprisingly popular.
Keri hears about Toledo in Spain and Wanaka in New Zealand.
