A pair of radio-fanatics are readying their vocal chords for a 30-hour broadcast marathon.
Cirencester College students Harry Jerome and Cameron MacGregor will be taking Corinium Radio’s listeners on a ‘radiothon’ to bolster the station’s profile while raising funds for charity.
The two 17-year-olds have assembled a star-studded line-up and they will kick off the epic exploit at 6am on Saturday and power though until midday on Sunday.
Guests include talented musicians, well-known businessmen and even a fitness coach.
Although not aiming for a world record they are adhering to strict rules, which mean one of them always being at the mixing desk and speaking at least every 10 minutes.
“We’ve got loads of guests coming in, including a fitness trainer who’s going to do some exercises with us to keep us going.”
The pair are hoping to raise £750 for Cirencester Opportunity Group with money being raised by sponsors, who will get regular shout-outs to promote their business. Listeners can also donate.
“Being part of Corinium Radio has given us so many opportunities to get involved in other things like the Phoenix Festival. It’s a good opportunity to give something back.”
Donations can be made online or by texting COZY79 to 70070, followed by either £1, £2, £3, £4 or £5*. The number is how much money the texter will be billed.
NB You must include the pound sign otherwise your donation won’t count but you will still be charged.
